Unidentified agaric Uncertain
Angles captured. One from above, one lower showing the cap edge and a yellow underside.
Cap 5–6 cm, bright scarlet to orange-red, smooth, the margin slightly upturned. A yellow surface is visible beneath the cap edge.
On and beside a mossy fallen log.
A scarlet cap over a yellow underside on wood is a striking combination. Without knowing whether that yellow surface is gills or pores the identification cannot proceed, and that distinction is the first thing to establish.
Gills or pores. Then a spore print.
The most vividly coloured find of the evening.
