Small white agaric on a rotting log
Unidentified small white agaric Uncertain
Angles captured. One frame of a small pale fruitbody tucked into the fern bases at the boulder foot, then three views of the main subject on the log — from above, oblique, and a low profile against the canopy.
Morphology
Main subject: cap 2–3 cm, white to pale cream, convex becoming plane with a low central umbo, thin-fleshed, margin slightly wavy. Stipe white, slender, 4–5 cm, smooth, arising directly from decaying wood. The fourth frame shows a smaller cream-yellow fruitbody a short distance away at the boulder base — same visit, possibly the same species at an earlier stage, but not confirmed.
Habitat & substrate
Directly on a well-rotted hardwood log at the base of a mossy boulder, hay-scented fern overhanging. Wet, shaded, saprotrophic on wood.
Lookalikes & what rules them out
Pluteus, Mycena, Marasmius and Oudemansiella are all plausible for a small white agaric fruiting from rotten hardwood.
To confirm this identification
Gill attachment and spore print. Pluteus gives a pink print with free gills — that alone would settle the largest branch.
