Orange mushrooms on a rotten log
Unidentified agaric Uncertain
Angles captured. Fifteen frames along the log, from wide locating shots to close profiles of individual fruitbodies at both ends.
Morphology
A scattered population along one long rotten log. Caps 1–3 cm, bright orange to tawny, convex becoming plane, smooth and slightly greasy. Stipes pale yellow-orange, slender, curved, 3–5 cm. A dense troop of small buttons erupts along the upper edge at one end; further along, larger mature fruitbodies stand singly.
Habitat & substrate
A soft, well-rotted log on the forest floor, with an adjacent mossy log. Saprotrophic — one mycelium clearly running the length of the wood.
Lookalikes & what rules them out
Xeromphalina, Gymnopus or a small . Hygrocybe is removed from the earlier candidate list: waxcaps are soil and moss fungi, essentially never on decaying wood — Xeromphalina and Gymnopus hold that niche.
To confirm this identification
An underside. Whether the gills are decurrent would narrow it fast.

Briefly split into three entries — troop, single fruitbody, and locating frames. They are one population on one log.
