Angles captured. Seven field frames including several close on the cluster, plus five of the spore print.

Morphology

Caps 2–4 cm, tan to honey-brown, convex, in a dense cluster from a common base. Stipes pale and fused below. Spore print pale rust to buff.

Habitat & substrate

At the base of a stump, arising from wood.

Lookalikes & what rules them out

Dense clustering from a common base on wood is a useful habit character. The pale rust print excludes the white-spored wood-rotting genera.

Notes
