Angles captured. Nine field frames from two points on the walk, plus four of the spore print.

Morphology

Cap 5–8 cm, red-brown to russet, dry and finely felted. Pore surface ochre. Stipe stout, brown, roughened.

Habitat & substrate

Litter and thin soil on a slope, mixed canopy.

Lookalikes & what rules them out

The print is mid-brown. A russet cap over ochre pores with a roughened stipe is a common enough combination that the print does not narrow it as much as it might.

Notes

Spore print taken (card 12). The earlier frames at #4836–#4838 are the same mushroom seen before the collection was made.
