Angles captured. Four field frames of the fruitbodies, two of the tree it grew beside and the surrounding woods, plus five of the spore print.

Morphology

Cap 5–7 cm, orange-brown to rose-brown above, dry. Pore surface bright yellow, shown clearly against the print. A chunk is missing from the top of the cap — the same damage is visible in both the field frames and the print photographs, which is what confirmed the match.

Habitat & substrate

Deep pine needle litter beside a single large tree, photographed deliberately for the association.

Lookalikes & what rules them out

Yellow pores under an orange-brown cap. The spore print is pale olive-brown.

Notes

Spore print taken (card 3). The match was made on cap colour and a missing chunk of flesh visible in both sets of frames — a rare case where a photograph carries evidence strong enough to tie a print to a mushroom without relying on memory. The two frames of the surrounding trees are kept as substrate reference.
