Orange-brown caps in pine litter
Boletaceae (cf. Suillus) Family
Angles captured. Four field frames of the fruitbodies, two of the tree it grew beside and the surrounding woods, plus five of the spore print.
Morphology
Cap 5–7 cm, orange-brown to rose-brown above, dry. Pore surface bright yellow, shown clearly against the print. A chunk is missing from the top of the cap — the same damage is visible in both the field frames and the print photographs, which is what confirmed the match.
Habitat & substrate
Deep pine needle litter beside a single large tree, photographed deliberately for the association.
Lookalikes & what rules them out
Yellow pores under an orange-brown cap. The spore print is pale olive-brown.
To confirm this identification
Whether the pores bruise blue.
Notes
Spore print taken (card 3). The match was made on cap colour and a missing chunk of flesh visible in both sets of frames — a rare case where a photograph carries evidence strong enough to tie a print to a mushroom without relying on memory. The two frames of the surrounding trees are kept as substrate reference. Corrected. Same error as TM0143: bright yellow pores were described under an agaric title. Deep pine litter and sticky orange-brown caps point to Suillus.
