Morphology
Cap 7–9 cm, buff-brown with a distinct olive-green cast across part of the surface, dry and slightly uneven. Stipe pale, long and straight.
Habitat & substrate
Against a cut stump beside the trail, litter at the base.
Lookalikes & what rules them out
The olive cast may be genuine pigment or may be algal growth on an older cap — the frames cannot separate the two, and it matters, because an olive tinge is diagnostic in some groups and meaningless in others.
To confirm this identification
A cut through the cap surface to see whether the colour is in the cuticle or on it.
