Morphology

A spherical white fruitbody 3–4 cm, covered in dense conical spines and warts, narrowed to a short sterile base, with a paler weathered one alongside.

Habitat & substrate

Leaf litter and moss on a bank.

Lookalikes & what rules them out

Dense conical spines on a white ball with a tapered base. Distinct from the earthballs (TM0002, TM0056), which have thick warted rinds and black interiors.
