Tall yellow-capped mushroom

Angles captured. Three frames: in place in the litter, then picked and held overhead for the underside.
Morphology
One fruitbody followed along the slope over five minutes. Cap 5–7 cm, butter to golden yellow, plane and slightly upturned with a wavy margin, smooth. Gills pale cream, appearing decurrent. Stipe long, 10–12 cm, pale cream-yellow, slender. One early frame catches the cap folded and orange before it opened.

Leaf litter on a wooded slope.
Lookalikes & what rules them out
Hygrophoropsis aurantiaca was the first call and does not fit. The false chanterelle is squat and saturated orange, with repeatedly forked deep-orange gills, mostly on conifer debris. This fruitbody is tall and slender, with a butter-yellow streaked cap and a pale cream underside, on a hardwood slope. A yellow Amanita — the base was never excavated — and a large waxcap both fit the stature better; neither is established.
To confirm this identification
Excavate the base of the next one and take a print. A volva or basal rings would settle it quickly.

Briefly split into three entries. One mushroom, photographed as the light and angle changed. Corrected. Downgraded from Hygrophoropsis; the recorded characters do not support the genus.
