Angles captured. Six frames, several silhouetted against the canopy.

Morphology

One fruitbody followed along the slope over five minutes. Cap 5–7 cm, butter to golden yellow, plane and slightly upturned with a wavy margin, smooth. Gills pale cream, appearing decurrent. Stipe long, 10–12 cm, pale cream-yellow, slender. One early frame catches the cap folded and orange before it opened.

Leaf litter on a wooded slope.

Lookalikes & what rules them out

The gills resolve at full resolution as narrow, crowded and decurrent, which excludes both the true chanterelles (blunt forking ridges, not blades) and the waxcaps (thick, waxy, widely spaced). Hygrophoropsis aurantiaca is the leading candidate, and is very likely the same species as TM0096 on the log nearby.
