cf. Amanita Uncertain
Angles captured. Three frames from above and the side.
Cap 5–7 cm, pale yellow to buff-yellow, smooth. Stipe pale and straight. The base is not shown.
Sandy soil under pine, near the water.
The photographer regards this as the same species as the yellow-capped mushroom with the white spore print recorded earlier on this walk, though a different fruitbody. If that holds, the white spore print and the sheathing base apply here too.
The stipe base. No print was taken from this fruitbody, so the identification rests on the resemblance rather than on evidence from this specimen.
Cross-referenced to the card 6 entry. Treat with the same caution — if it is that species, it is an Amanita.
Found at Coldbrook Rd area, Hubbardston, MA on Friday, 14 August 2026 at 10:56. See the full walk for that day's weather and everything else recorded.
