Orange jelly fungus, second log
Dacrymyces or Tremella Genus
Angles captured. Four frames closing in on a single mass.
Morphology
A vivid orange gelatinous mass about 4 cm across, deeply lobed and glistening, clearly soft and water-swollen. Growing directly beside a zone of pale crust fungus on the same log.
Habitat & substrate
On a mossy fallen log with an extensive white-grey crust fungus alongside.
Lookalikes & what rules them out
Same two candidates as TM0045, and again with a crust fungus immediately adjacent. Host wood is a proxy, not a proof: the real separation is Tremella's parasitism of Peniophora crusts, the whitish attachment point of D. chrysospermus, or tuning-fork basidia under a scope.
To confirm this identification
Identify the crust fungus. If it is Peniophora or similar, Tremella becomes much more likely.
Notes
Almost certainly the same species as TM0045, found on a different log 48 minutes later.
