Angles captured. Three frames — one from above and two low obliques showing the gills.

Morphology

One tall fruitbody. Cap 7–9 cm, pale grey-violet with a darker centre, broadly convex, smooth. Gills violet-brown, close. Stipe long and slender, 10–12 cm.

Habitat & substrate

Leaf litter below a stone wall and boulder field, hay-scented fern alongside.

Lookalikes & what rules them out

Laccaria has thick, distant, waxy gills; Cortinarius thinner and closer with a rusty print. Several frames here show close thin gills with a dull pinkish-brown cast, favouring Cortinarius.

Notes

Briefly split into two entries on the assumption that the litter frames and the fern frames were different fruitbodies. They are one mushroom.
